ATS Global Eagle Disposable Face Mask (TGA Listed) 3-Ply with Earloops Box 50

EN 14683 is a standard that medical face masks in Europe are required to comply with. The testing requirements for this standard include bacterial filtration efficiency, differential pressure (breathability), splash resistance and microbial cleanliness. EAGLE face masks are approved in accordance with EN 14683. This is your guarantee that they are tested and approved both as medical equipment and for private use. Meanwhile, you can rest assured that they are of an excellent quality.

There are three types of face masks (Types I, II and 2R). ATS GLOBAL Eagle face masks are Type 2R. This guarantees you the highest level of protection, as this type also protects from droplets.

See the testing requirements for type I, II and IIR respectively in the table below.

Test Type I Type II Type 2R
Bacterial filtration efficiency (BFE): The ability of the face mask to filter our bacteria so that they are not released into the user’s surroundings (BFE), (%). ≥ 95 ≥ 98 ≥ 98
Differential pressure: The lower this value, the easier it is for the user to breath normally (Pa/cm2). < 40 < 40 < 60
Splash resistance pressure: The ability of the face mask to withstand the penetration of liquid splashes (kPa). ≥ 16,0
Microbial cleanliness: Microbial cleanliness documents cleanliness in the manufacturing process (cfu/g). ≥ 30 ≥ 30 ≥ 30

How to put on a face mask

  1. Clean your hands with soap and water or hand sanitizer before touching the mask.
  2. Remove a mask from the box and make sure there are no obvious tears or holes in either side of the mask.
  3. Determine which side of the mask is the top. The side of the mask that has a stiff bendable edge is the top and is meant to mould to the shape of your nose.
  4. Determine which side of the mask is the front. The coloured side of the mask is usually the front and should face away from you, while the white side touches your face
  5. Hold the mask by the ear loops. Place a loop around each ear.
  6. Mould or pinch the stiff edge to the shape of your nose.
  7. Pull the bottom of the mask over your mouth and chin.

How to remove a face mask

  1. Clean your hands with soap and water or hand sanitizer before touching the mask. Avoid touching the front of the mask. The front of the mask is contaminated. Only touch the ear loops.
  2. Hold both of the ear loops and gently lift and remove the mask.
  3. Throw the mask in the trash. Clean your hands with soap and water or hand sanitizer.

When should a face mask be worn

Consider wearing a face mask when you are sick with a cough or sneezing illness (with or without fever) and you expect to be around other people.  The face mask will help protect them from catching your illness.  Healthcare settings have specific rules for when people should wear face masks.

What is a face mask used for

Facemasks help limit the spread of germs.  When someone talks, coughs, or sneezes they may release tiny drops into the air that can infect others. If someone is ill a face masks can reduce the number of germs that the wearer releases and can protect other people from becoming sick.  A face mask also protects the wearer’s nose and mouth from splashes or sprays of body fluids.
